This was made for Adventure Jam 2023 in 14 days. My duty was to participate in the early concept building, design the story structure, design the structure of the combat system, and write dialogue.
This is my first time teaming up with people from the industry, rather than someone I know in person. Communication becomes harder and easier at the same time. Hard in the sense that I needed more time to understand my teammates’ personalities, and easy in the sense that they are experienced game devs and know how to communicate concisely.
Before this, I never worked in a consistent development. Those were either class projects that it’s hard to expect everyone to work equally hard, or sole gamejams, whose scopes were largely dependent on my own will.
During this project, I learned a lot from Nathan, the producer and programmer in our team. Sometimes, I spent too much effort to make “the best story” and “design choices”, while forgetting the importance of experimenting and communicating. And Nathan reminded me these to put be back on track.
